What we have been up to...
This is where we share our latest News and talk a little about some of the things we have been up to.
You can also find all of our news updates and much more content on our Facebook and YouTube Channel.
Operation Clean Up
So far through Clear Ripple Projects we have organised 37 clean ups across Northern Ireland, and one on the Greek Island of Rhodes, collecting more than 910 bags of litter from our coastal areas and other wild places. We have also through the clean ups and smaller efforts collected more than 10100 recyclables which otherwise would not have made their way back into the system.
As well as our own clean up events we have promoted several others on our pages including those by Beach Cleaners Ards and North Down and Sea Shepard. If you would like to get your events on this site please get in touch.
We have also held talks with some schools and community groups including Grosvenor Grammar School who kindly invited us along to speak to their year 14 pupils and worked with several scout troops in the Ards and North down area, spreading the message of ocean pollution and the impact on wildlife and climate change.
In August we teamed up with a Belfast based theatre and arts summer scheme who were focusing on litter and its impact on wildlife and the marine environment. We held a beach clean with them at Ballyholme beach where we gathered 4 bags of litter and had lots of amazing conversations with the kids and leaders about pollution, plastic and the shells, crabs and other creatures we found there.
Big Vegan Picnic and Beach Clean
In July 2018 he hosted our first every Big Vegan Picnic and Beach Clean event at Groomsport Beach, with 70 guests and lots of tasty food including several types of sandwiches, fruit, potato salad, sausage rolls, muffins and cakes. We had an amazing time talking to our guests and getting to know so of the regular beach cleaning group better as well as spending another beautiful summer afternoon in a beautiful location with beautiful people. It was also a great chance to talk to people about Vegan food, ethics and lifestyle and even discuss the impact of animal agriculture on the environment. We hope to run more of these in the future.
Our Charity Partner
Our next Charity partner for 2019 will be Back into Daylight Animal Sanctuary based in Navan Ireland. There the animals can live out their days in peace and freedom with the loving care and daily kindness that all animals deserve. With more than 400 animals to care for the expenses quickly ramp up and with aims to expand and rescue even more animals in the future they need all the support they can get. So for the month of May 2019, all of our charity donations and event income will be going to help Back into Daylight continue the amazing work they do.
Check out our write up about them here - Back Into Daylight
