June Book Club
We are big believers in self education. Learning and understanding from a position of interest to you and in the best way for each individual. Reading can provide a brilliant tool for us all to learn at our own pace and at our own speed.
With millions of texts out there covering thousands more subjects there is always something to interest everyone. As part of the Awakening Project we have another 2 books for you this month covering Mindset, Mindfulness and Spirituality.
A big problem we face today on this planet is peoples views and opinions of themselves and constant comparisons to others around us in a negative light. Comparing only our self imposed faults against societies perfect examples. But hopefully these books will shed some light on the matter.
The Goddess Revolution - Mel Wells
This book is at first glance just another diet book, but once you open the pages you see there is more to it. Wells has managed to craft not just an excellent guide to improving our mindset around food and diet culture, but has made it a more spiritual and mindful journey than the typical punishment and repentance feel of every other diet book you may have picked up. Focusing on loving your self and your body and fueling it with great food that you like but is good for you she tries to help us transition from obsessing about our faults and the battle to be perfect to accepting just how beautiful we are and how much better we can feel when we lose this negative aspect of self criticism. It is full of great tips and useful insights and has helped many friends of ours with diet mindset, and self image issues as well. A great read if this is sounds like you.
Stillness Speaks - Eckhart Tolle
We are big fans of Tolle's works and this one is a small but magnificent addition to his collection. Stillness Speaks covers many aspects of mindfulness and consciousness and is set out in small page extracts to allow you to read the passage and consider is relevance to life and your own unique experiences. He encourages readers to pause and reflect on the words and what they mean to you at each section and it can be read cover to cover or sections by section depending on the topic you want to shed light on that day. Covering topics such as death, Nature, your true self and much more it is a great book to have on hand for anyone wanting to practice being present in the now.
If you have a book you would like to see added to the book club please leave a comment down below or message us on facebook with your suggestion and it will make it's way onto the site soon to share with many more readers.
